Web21 Aug 2024 · I can't get sumif to work with text (I normally can). I have tried cell reference and "text" in the selection criteria in the formula. It will not work until I change the selection criteria data to a number. When I create new text data, it works fine, when I use the data I need to SUM (supplied by someone else) it does not work. So the formula would be: =SUMIF (name_column,"Puneet*~",amount_column) So when you use a tilde next to the asterisk, SUMIF takes it as a real character instead of a wildcard character.
